Cardboard

The Providence College Recycling Program accepts all corrugated cardboard boxes for recycling.  The College has 2 cardboard compactors located on campus, one at Peterson Loading Dock and the other at Physical Plant.  Please follow these procedures for recycling your cardboard boxes:

Students

Students should break down and flatten any boxes you wish to get rid of.  Then place them in the trash room on your floor, off to the side, but not in the trash barrels.  The cleaning company will take the cardboard separately for recycling.  Please follow this procedure throughout the entire school year.

Faculty and Staff

Please break down and flatten any boxes you wish to get rid of and place next to your blue recycling bin, or put them in the hall outside your door. The cleaning company will take the cardboard out separately for recycling.

Fact: Cardboard is used to ship 90% of all products in the U.S AND Recycled cardboard only takes 75% of the energy needed to make new cardboard, and lessens the emission of sulfur dioxide that is produced when making pulp from wood trees.
